3rd Grade Sea Exploration

3rd Grade Sea Exploration

SLIDESHOW OF STUDENT ARTWORK AND ZOOM WITH DR. ERIN SPENCER

Our 3rd graders are in the middle of our Sea unit in Wit and Wisdom and have been learning all about why and how scientists explore the sea!  Earlier in October, marine biologist and author, Dr. Erin Spencer, met with us virtually to tell us all about her job tagging and tracking sharks in the Gulph and studying their behaviors and diet.  It was AMAZING!  Dr. Spencer has also written two children’s books, The Incredible Octopus, and The World of Coral Reefs. Stop by Mrs. Nagle or Ms. McGlynn’s classroom to take a look!

Students just finished reading, The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jacques Cousteau, which is a biography about the French marine biologist and inventor.  We learned all about his life and passion for exploring the sea. Students then wrote essays explaining “why” and “how” Jacques explored the sea!
